Sensory Information Packet

During our production of The Music Man at Summer Stock Stage, we held a special sensory-friendly performance. This event was designed for individuals who may be sensitive to sensory stimuli, offering them the opportunity to enjoy the show in a more comfortable environment. To accommodate their needs, we kept the house lights on and adjusted the production by lowering the sound effects and microphone levels.

For this performance, I took on the responsibility of creating a detailed Sensory Information Packet to help attendees prepare for any potentially overstimulating moments during the show, in addition to handling my regular Production Assistant duties. Additionally, we stationed a volunteer to raise a light as a visual cue, providing an extra layer of warning during those moments.

Rehearsal Props

DeLorean

This prop was made for a project in a class, Stage Management 2, at Pace University. We were all given a prompt, a $15 budget, and 2 weeks to research and make a prop. Attached is the research presentation. To add extra flare since I had extra room in the budget and had plenty of time, I added lights and sound as can be seen in the pictures. The list of the sounds that I played are on the presentation below.

Wedding Veil

This rehearsal prop was requested by our director, Benita deWit for the show Tartuffe. It was used for the transition in Act III to Act IV. In this transition the daughter, Marianne, discovers the veil in a wedding box brought out for her forced wedding between her and Tartuffe.

This prop was made from a grocery bag, medical mask, and gaff tape!
As we went into tech, this was replaced for the real prop used in the show.
